As most of you are aware there is a debate in fashion circles about the increase in fast disposable fashion. With a great many products keeping the landfill operators busy. It is inevitable that this trend would spill over into the cashmere marketplace.

We at Denner pride ourselves on the fact that when you buy an item from us it becomes a trusted and well-loved friend. If properly looked after, it should last for as long as you want it to. The key test is whether it keeps its shape and colour after a few washes. Our customer feedback and repeat order cycle suggests that with our cashmere this is the case.We have not changed our sourcing of moulted Mongolian goat hair and the specialist dyeing technique since Harriet Denner founded the business in 1994.

In the end, it comes down to a very simple rule of thumb. Actual cashmere content. With modern manufacturing techniques and fast dyeing techniques - particularly prevalent in the far East, you can create a great looking cashmere product very cheaply with a very low cashmere content and a great deal of dye to mask the cashmere shortfall.
Whilst it looks good to start with sadly, over the course of time and few washes, it loses its shape and that bright jazzy colour soon fades.
The demand for cashmere fashion continues unabated. So, therefore it is hardly surprising that there are a host of new entrants into the lower priced / disposable category. I suppose in the end it comes down to whether you want a brief acquaintance or a trusted friend.
