Read an interesting article recently about what to wear and what not to wear on a long-haul flight.

As the holiday season is rapidly approaching, I thought I would share the gist of the article with you. As readers of this blog will know, we recently spent some time with Denner devotee Lina (not our Lina), who featured in a recent blog, gave her best kept long haul secret away (The famous Denner poncho).

Airlines are always looking to upgrade coach class passengers to business class as they always overbook coach class and hope for "no shows", so the coach class is always full. In the event of everyone turning up they upgrade a lucky few to business class.

Now, how do you (as a coach class passenger) get that upgrade?

Simple, don't turn up looking like something the cat dragged in or what your dog had for breakfast, or an evening with the local rugby club.

Stated elegance is the watchword here.

Airline sources tell me that they are always on the lookout for well turned out coach class passengers "well dressed, well heeled” who would mellifluously blend into the business class cabin.

So, I have asked our Lina to put a few ideas together that will help you grab that elusive upgrade as well as offer you the usual Denner degree of comfort on a long-haul flight.

A few other tips caught my attention and am very happy to share them with you.

Tight jeans are a bit of a no no, as the body swells up and you suddenly start to feel uncomfortable.

Tights likewise unless they are made of natural fibre (Holdups perfect!!!)

Flat soled comfortable shoes ...avoid lace ups if you can. High heels, knee boots, flip flops are not great for getting off the plane in a hurry if there is an incident.

Skip that flowing summery skirt as it tends to get caught up in the seat and on the seat arms. Jumpsuits do not really work in cramped airline loos!!

If you can avoid wearing underwired bras. They really were not designed to be worn at several thousand feet!

Finally, if you have just got married please don't wear your wedding dress on the plane ....

someone is bound to spill coffee on it!!!
